Free Apron Patterns - Polka Dot Bunny Kids Apron

Kids apron patterns - bunny

BUNNY SUPPLIES for the Free Apron Pattern "Polka Dot Bunny"

  • A piece of white cotton fabric- 15inches x 24 inches for apron body
  • For bunny face- a 5 inch x 5 inch scrap
  • Fabric for bunny body- 1 piece that's 5 inches tall x 7.5 inches long.
  • Waist tie strap- one piece of chocolate with tiny white polka dots- 2 inches x 72 inches.
  • Bunny toe- 1 piece that's 1.5 tall x 2.5 inches long.
  • Pink Felt- 3 inches x 5 inches this is enough for the two ears
  • White Felt- 2 inches x 4 inches this is enough for the two ear linings.
  • Small amount of pink yarn for pom pom tail
  • Pink colored pencil for cheek blush
  • Black or brown permanent fabric marker

SEWING INSTRUCTIONS FOR FREE APRON PATTERNS "POLKA DOT BUNNY APRON"

Apron Body Fabric-15 x 24 inches. free apron patterns,child apron

Turn sides to inside 1/4 of an inch. press. turn again and sew down.

Do the same for the hem.

At top of apron- turn to inside 1/4 of an inch. press.Turn to inside one inch.

Press and sew down along edge.

You've just made your tie casing.

Tie- with a 2 inch x 72 inch piece. Press short ends 1/4 of an inch to the inside.

Turn both long sides down 1/4 of an inch to the inside. Press.

Now fold in half lengthwise and sew along this long edge. Set aside.

Bunny Face/pocket- with your 5 inch x 5 inch piece of white cotton.

Turn sides to the inside 1/4 of an inch. Press.

Do the same for the bottom. At the top, turn to inside 1/4 of an inch.Press.

Turn again and sew across top.

Look closely at my Bunny face, and with your permanent fabric marker draw a simple face.

Blush the cheeks with the pink colored pencil. Set pocket aside.

Take the pink felt scrap that is 3 x 5 inches cut it so that you have 2 pieces that are 1.5 x 5 inches. Cut out the long ears.

Take the white scrap and divide it in half the same way and create the ear linings.

Lay the white ear linings on top of the pink ears and sewing close to the edge attach the white linings to the pink ears. Set aside.

Again, looking close at the simple shape of the bunny body cut the rectangle to make your bunny body.

Don't forget to allow for the edges to be turned to the inside.

Once you've cut the body, fold the edges to the inside 1/8-1/4 inches.

Press well and set aside.

Do the same thing with the rectangle for your bunny toe.

Pom Pom Tail- to make the pom pom. Take a 1 inch wide piece of sturdy cardboard and wrap several wraps of the pink yarn around when it gets a bit thick,slip a thread at the top and squeezing tight pull it together and tie a good knot.

Now clip the other side and fluff your pom pom open.Set aside.

Gather all your parts together- your placement on the apron is your decision.

Lay the body and toe down as well as the ears, place your pocket on top where it will cover the raw edges of all the parts.

Once you've got it arranged where you want it, lift the pocket off and pin the body, toe and ears down, sew around all these edges.

Now lay your pocket on top and sew down both sides and the bottom. Attach your pom pom tail.
